Heat Pump Drying of Kelp (Laminaria japonica): Drying Kinetics and Thermodynamic Properties

The main objective of this research is the study drying kinetics and thermodynamic properties kelp using heat pump technology. effects independent variables temperature (20–50 °C), air velocity (0.3–1.3 m/s), humidity (20–50%), thickness (0.8–4.2 mm) on time, moisture uniformity, effective diffusivity (Deff), activation energy (Ea), enthalpy (ΔH), entropy (ΔS), Gibbs free (ΔG) were investigated. results show that Page model was in describing content change during drying. Deff varied from 1.00 × 10−11 to 13.00 m2/s temperature, velocity, humidity, had significant time uniformity. Higher with proper shortened lessened influence Ea (16.38–26.66 kJ/mol) ΔH (13.69–24.22 significantly increased by thickness. When 40 °C, 1.3 m/s, 40%, reduced 18% 5 h, a homogeneous content.
